Belford Bridles

Sunday saw five regular muddybums braving yet another wet start to the day at their abodes, making their way north to the starting point at Belford where the rain had given over.

We were met by Steve who is a newbie and Rosie who is a main player for a Thursday welcome to you both.

The route for the day was a circular of local bridleways and byways. On our route up to St Cuthbert's cave we took a stop over looking Cheviot for two minutes silence to remember our heroes past and present, Kev lead the prayer in respect of his fellow comrades.

Snacks were consumed at the cave whilst our geography lesson for the day was held by Kev since mark was absent. The views across to Holy Island were as picturesque as usual and you cant help wonder if that place has its own climate as the place seemed to be basking in sunshine.

The trails through the trees were a little bit sketchy due to the amount of rain the night before we were still making good time so the decision was taken to head for a cuppa at Beal farm where we sat outside taking in the views of the coast. We managed to get along the high water mark before the tide made its way in a brief stop was taken to way up which turkey anyone wanted to book for their lunch in late December.

This next bridle is never the best even on a good dry day so those who know about it were apprehensive about how claggy it was going to be today but low and behold it rode not so bad. This far into the ride and no mechanicals, punctures or even any rain the day was just going accordingly. We retraced our steps back into Belford for half past three and covering a distance of approx 21 miles.

Yet another good day with good craick and who would of thought that when leaving home in the morning.Everyone participated in more beverages in the cafe down the road. Thanks once again to those who help make the day what it is .

Cheers Willie
