Average age : About half a century

Time : Departed at 10.00am and returned to cars at 14.00pm : 4hrs

Route :
• Start on time with a nice gentle 4 mile meandering narrow road climb with beautiful views either side 500ft climbed and we met the first and last 2 walkers of the day
• Turn right at Mounthooly
• Climb to 1636ft alongside Corby Craig highest point of the day
• Downhill all the way to lunch south of Town Yetholm on St Cuthbert’s way lying by the river in the baking sun, even the cows were paddling in the river
• No rush today so off to the pub for a celebratory drink courtesy of Tom the birthday boy!! before heading on ward and as usual upward
• Up up up up and just a little bit more had the six take a well earned rest at Wideopen Head
• Pay back time well worth the effort of the previous climb this is a beautiful ,not technical descent giving breathtaking views of a the Cheviots with a steep valley falling to our right hand side disaster even death only a couple of feet away.
• Trowupburn was the gathering point before the last gentle climb of the day north of Sinkside hill before a speedy gravely descent and a downhill road race following the College burn back to the cars
Next time we do this make sure you come its fantastic biking in deserted hills with 360 deg panoramic views.
Thanks to Willie for leading again and to Tom for the treat.
I think the first downhill might have jut edged the second for excitement what to do go fast and enjoy the ride or take it easy and soak up the view, decisions decisions
Cheers
Ian
