North York Moors - 6th Sept 2009

9 Muddy Bums met on the edge of the North York Moors for another grand tour of this area of outstanding natural moutain biking. Terry, Dave, Arthur, Ian, Julie, Willie, Michelle, Graham and Kevin.

Leaving the car park gives you about 20 yards flat riding to warm up before you start climbing,

or in Kevin's case flying, yep 5 yards up the hill and he's airborne again!! Straight up to the

Cleveland Way and the hard work's over for a while.

Classic moorland singletrack contours around Urra Moor before launching you into the first

descent of the day (o.k. so it's not grassy track all the way) great fun! After that it is back

up through the trees to the ridge.

The next action comes as we drop off Bransdale Ridge, twisting tight singletrack drops you at the

5-star lunchstop at The Mill (Julie's favourite part of the day - planning the post-ride coffe and

cake whilst eating lunch)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steady climbing on a good surface drags you up to Rudland Rigg for the best descent yet, this

one's a cracker but as ever, over too quickly.

One last climb on a wobby wheel for Graeme (bag full of pumps but no spare spokes) and it is

home on the Riggs all the way.

Thanks for the company, hope everyone enjoyed it (apart from Michelle!!!!)

Signing off Terry's first ever ride report - only took the ten hours to compose. Aided and

abetted by Jayne on the Keyboard (sounds like we're auditioning for x-factor!!!!!!!!)
